Like transparent PPF, matte PPF, utilizing thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) as its base material, inherits exceptional resistance to minor scratches, abrasions, and chemical corrosion. Crucially, it retains heat self-healing properties where heat activation (e.g., sunlight or hot air) triggers molecular recombination to repair fine scratches autonomously .This functionality originates from the elastic copolymer structure of TPU, which incorporates reversible hydrogen bonds that enable shape recovery under thermal stimulation. The matte finish is achieved through specialized surface coatings that diffuse light effectively while maintaining protective performance, with haze controlled below 5% to ensure aesthetic uniformity. Enhanced by aliphatic TPU formulations, the film demonstrates excellent UV stability (resisting yellowing for over 3 years) and extreme temperature tolerance, operating reliably from –40 °C to 150 °C.
